Piute Ponds is the largest wetland in Los Angeles County.  It is located in the western Mojave Desert in the Antelope Valley.  It is an Important Bird Area (IBA) that consists of clay pan lakes and is surrounded by pristine desert and bordered on the north by the Rosamond Dry Lakebed.  The 9600 acres are a birder's paradise.
